Editorial Review: Product Description: Comic legends Grant Morrison (ALL STAR SUPERMAN, SEVEN SOLDIERS) and Andy Kubert (Ultimate X-Men, 1602) join forces to bring you an unforgettable tale of the Dark Knight. After Batman faces down an army of winged horrors in a no-holds barred, bone-crunching superbrawl among the treasures of London's Pop Art Museum, Batman receives the greatest shock of his life when he discovers that he has a son. Sparks fly when the new addition to the Bat-family is introduced to Batman's adopted son, Robin, the Boy Wonder. Which one will be chosen to carry on the legacy as Gotham's protector? Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Better Off Paying Someone To Slam Your Head In A Door!Alright, so I picked up this volume of Batman due to the fact that it was written by Grant Morrison, and I was a big fan of his JLA run in the late 90's. It was one of the best incarnations of the League to date, and his portrayal of Batman in that series was very good. So, when I heard he was going to be taking over the Batman title, I was pretty excited! I figured "Hey, he did such a great job with the character on JLA, he's bound to do him justice here!" And, early on, he did. The ... Read More Rating: - DamianThes Batman issues contained in this book had come out prior to my suscribing to the Batman title again, so I bought this book to catch up on the Damian character. The art by Kubert is fantastic. I find Morrison a bit cryptic, but the stories were entertaining. Rating: - If Batman #666 is canon, then this collection is important.I just read this Batman collection again and found a much greater appreciation for these stories than I did the first time around (not that they were all that bad to begin with). Of course, Grant Morrison's run on Batman has gone on another two years since Batman & Son, so reading this now allows you to put some added perspective on what's going on here. First of all, you have the introduction of Batman's son, Damien (this is not a spoiler, isn't it pretty obvious from the title?), who ... Read More Rating: - Edge of the Seat ReadingVery exciting, though the plot is a bit confusing; especially the last chapter. I reread it cover to cover twice and still am a little unsure of how the story transitions it focus. Art work is incredible, a little dark, but this is a Batman comic. Thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to exploring more works by the same or similar authors/illustrators. Rating: - Why bother? As a graphic novel this falls completely flat with very minor redeeming qualities. If you aren't a regular follower of the Batman series this story will confuse you, and leave you with almost zero closure. There seems to be absolutely NO purpose for this collection other than to collect a few issues of Batman into a paperback, but it even fails at that (collects Batman #655-#658 and #663-#666). Quite a gap. The story arch, while it does tell a story, feels to be lacking in vision and is ultimately ... Read More Batman and Son Buy superhero comic book collectibles at the Superhero Mall! |
