The series always had good intentions, borrowing plots, concepts, characters, and even lines of dialogue from the classic Stan Lee-Jack Kirby comic books that kicked off the Marvel age of comics. And it was willing to spend two or even three episodes on a single story line. The early episodes, however, had serious drawbacks, such as a clumsy animation style (the Silver Surfer never looked less noble), weak humor (the origin episode created a framing sequence in which the FF appears on the Dick Cavett Show), and an awful theme song by Giorgio Moroder (Flashdance, Top Gun). Fortunately, the animation improved in the second season, and instrumental theme music replaced the song. Memorable moments from the series include the monumental Frightful Four-Inhumans tie-in and Galactus's search for a new herald. Memorable characters include villains Doctor Doom, the Skrulls, the Mole Man, and the Puppet Master, and heroes Daredevil, the Black Panther, Thor, and the Hulk. Guest voices include Ron Perlman, Michael Dorn, Kathy Ireland, Mark Hamill, and John Rhys-Davies. It's worth a look for FF fans, especially in the complete four-disc set that contains all 29 episodes, a welcome change from Disney's single-disc compilations of the Spider-Man series from the same time period. (Ages 8 and older: cartoon action, threatening situations, some mature concepts) --David Horiuchi Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - great experienceThe DVD that was ordered was in great shape, at a great price and came in a short period of time. It was very good experience dealing with this vendor. Rating: - LACKLUSTER RELEASE, BUT STILL WORTH IT FOR FANS OF THE FANTASTIC FOUR!I found this used like new for $8.00, so it's hard to complain. The show ran two seasons and fortunately was retooled for the second season. The first season is not all that good, but not a total disaster. The worst thing about this set is that there are no chapter breaks which means you must sit through that awful theme song time and time again(I fast forwarded through it after the first episode). On the plus side, the theme song was removed after season one and season two has a new improved intro. ... If you are a Fantastic Four Fan this would be a great addition to have for you collection. Rating: - Fantastic Fun!!!!I purchased the Fantastic four dvd set- the one from 1994-96. It has about 26 episodes within the collection. It is old school in that it is "campy" and the theme song is antiquated- but that is cool with me. The episodes are fun- the villians are schemeing and i LOVE the relationship between Reed and Sue(his wife- loving) and Thing and the Torch- very sibling like and teasing. I KNOW you will enjoy this collection- if you like the Fantastic four at all. Rating: - Not the cartoon series I wantedFor one thing, I didn't know there was a 90's version of the Fantastic Four cartoon series. This is not the one I wanted when I ordered this a a few months ago. I am now finally able to see it and low and behold, I am disappointed. I expected the original cartoon series which is still shown on tv today, not this modernized version. I don't mean to sound too critical but I am not into these modernized, newer versions of these classic cartoons. The batman, superman, justice league, etc. are not the ...
