If that isnt enough he attends the esteemed sky high a school for molding todays power-gifted students into tomorrows superheroes. The only problem..Will is starting his freshman year without any super powers of his own. Studio: Buena Vista Home Video Release Date: 08/10/2007 Starring: Michael Angarano Kurt Russell Run time: 100 minutes Rating: Pg Amazon.com: The idea of a high school for superheroes will appeal to teens and preteens, who struggle powerlessly with petty authoritarians, bullying peers, and their own rampant hormones, and Sky High spotlights young Will Stronghold (Michael Angarano, Lords of Dogtown), the son of top-of-the-heap superheroic couple the Commander (Kurt Russell, Tango & Cash) and Josie Jetstream (Kelly Preston, View from the Top). Unfortunately, though he's about to be dropped into the midst of kids who can stretch, turn to living stone, or shoot fire, Will has yet to develop any powers at all--and may never develop them. His development anxieties (and some entertaining metaphors for high school social hierarchies) contrast with a bubbling plot by an old foe of the Commander's to destroy Sky High and all of superhero-dom. Sky High has a great supporting cast (including Bruce Campbell, Army of Darkness; Dave Foley, NewsRadio; Lynda Carter, Wonder Woman; and Cloris Leachman, Young Frankenstein) and a handful of funny, offhand bits, but the bulk of the movie is bland and obvious. Younger kids may not mind the clumsy action scenes, generic dialogue, and tacky production design, but even comic-book-loving teenagers will label Sky High bargain-basement. --Bret Fetzer Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Welcome to Sky HighASky High is a pretty good movie it's full of great action and great actors like, kurt russle. this is a really good movie. if you're into superheros you'll love this movie. i recommend it to everyone Rating: - The Eighties Music Alone Makes This Movie Worth WatchingThis is one of my favorite movies. Previous reviewers have described the movie, so I want get into that. What I like the most about the movie besides its obvious spoofing of other superhero movies is the music. Not only did they have great 80's music in this movie, but they used it in such a way that it actually helped tell the story. My favorite scene in the movie is the "party" scene at Will's house when Gwen tells Layla that Will doesn't need to be friends with her anymore. Playing "Voices ... Here, they study to be either a) superheroes or b) sidekicks (aka Hero Support). As with any high school, there are social cliques, raging hormones, and impossible homework, but SKY HIGH takes it all to a whole new level. It is the first day of high school at SKY HIGH for freshman Will Stronghold, son of superhero power couple The Commander and Jetstream. Unfortunately for Will, he is a bit delayed ... It has some fun special effects and a positive message for young children. It is a safe movie for children and has some cute moments. Rating: - OK, OK, It's pretty funLet's face it; this movie isn't one an adult is going to go see by themselves. They are going to sit through it with a kid. Sometimes, that can be pure torture. Sky High is entertaining once you 'buy into' the premise. It makes sense and is 'logical' within its own conceit. And it's pretty fun to watch, too. Yes, it's predictable, and no one is going to get massacred in the end. But the actors are good, they don't over act to the point of being campy. I'd recommend ...
